What's New? Well, this spanking new overhaul of my web site for one - we badly
needed an
update and so, here it is: easier to read and certainly more convenient both for
me and for you.
Enjoy! Thank you for your patience while this was
being done.
While you're at it, take a look at the links to Irish culture on the GET TO
KNOW JANE PAGE; there are a couple of new links there.
And now, here's what else is new:
Lizzy Dripping has a little sister - Welcome, Little Lizzy!
When Lizzy left Ireland to work in the New World, she left a houseful of
siblings behind.
One after the other, they left Ireland.
LIttle Lizzy is the first of these. She stands 14 and
a half inches tall, and comes
with a dress, apron and pantaloons, just like her
older sister. Who would have known that
it was the Lizzies - or, the Bridies, as they were
known, in the New World - who put up
the seed money for the National Cathedral? They knew
then, as now, the importance of community.
New is also a selection of pot grabbers; these have grown out of a need for a
small, handy
pot holder; small enough to leave on top of a pot while it is on the stovetop,
handy enough to fit
over one hand. The idea came from watching chili cooks
at work. I've been making these for the
past year, and, with feedback from you'all, have
refined the pattern and made them big enough
for
both women's and men's hands. A few people have told
me that they use the pot grabbers to
take hot items out of the microwave. I'm glad it's
useful, whatever you use it for!
The new collection of materials will be out in July: looks like the trend this
year is towards
rich, earthy colors. I do have a selection of reversible table- and couch-table
runners already,
made from preview materials of the new collections.
There's some whimsy in there, too.
The new colors are gorgeous; I can't wait to get my
hands on more of those bolts. September in
the time: with the beginning of the Fall shows I will
have new, reversible table runners and
Xmas tree skirts in the new materials.
For now, let me wish you all a great Summer, time to relax and rejuvenate. I
will be in Ireland
during June and July: stocking up on that which is dear to all of
us - home.
