While you're at it, take a look at the links to Irish culture on the JANE’S LINKS TO IRISH CULTURE; there are a couple of new links there.
And now, here's what else is new:
NEW this year are tweed pictures of Ireland: this is an old tradition in Ireland – pictures are all around 10 x 12 inches in size, framed, with a country scene made entirely of Irish tweed and bainin wool.
Cost: $20.
Lizzy Dripping has a little sister - Welcome, Little Lizzy!
When Lizzy left Ireland to work in the New World, she left a house full of siblings behind. One after the other, they left Ireland. Little Lizzy is the first of these. She stands 14 and a half inches tall, and comes with a dress, apron and pantaloons, just like her older sister. Who would have known that it was the Lizzies - or, the Bridies, as they were known, in the New World - who put up the seed money for the National Cathedral? They knew then, as now, the importance of community.
DID I TELL YOU that we now have a Young PJ? Like his big brother, Young PJ is
dressed in an Aran pullover, trousers and scarf, with optional tam o'shanter
caps. Carrot red, dark brown and blond hair colors available. Size: 12 inches high.
Cost: $34.
NEW is Crazy Lizzy, who is the same size as our beloved Lizzy Dripping, but sports multicolored hair, a technicolor dress and bright yellow knickers.
Cost: $35.
NEW is a Scots Lizzy and PJ. These have matching Royal Stewart clothes, hand-knitted ganseys and tam o’shanters. I can make them in your clan tartan if you provide the tartan material.
Cost (each) $35, cost, with tartan provided is $28 each.
I will have pictures of all these new items up on the website when I get a life.
NEW! As many of you know, I have a Texan daughter named Alice. Alice lives in doll heaven, and is partly Hispanic, partly Native American, partly… with a wee bit of Irish. So the leap from an Irish Lizzy Dripping doll to a Texan Lizzy Dripping doll was not far, SO... (drum roll here): our new doll is called ALICIA, is 18 inches tall, like Lizzy, has jet black hair, like my Alice, and comes in two shades of warm, honey-brown.
A customer in Germany asked for MUG RUGS, and I made her some - now I can’t stop making them. They are 4.5 inches x 4.5 inches square, padded with cotton batting (to conduct the heat from your coffee / tea mug) and come in a myriad of patterns… Xmas one side, Fall the other, regular, year-round patterns one side, Xmas the other… Lots of individually patterned ones, too. These fun-to-use MUG RUGS cost $2.50 each, sets of 4 cost $10.
NEW! And you thought the Tree Skirt could not get any better! I’ve been working on the most gorgeous tree skirt ever: it is pieced on one side in shades of red/green/gold or shades of burgundy/old rose/Williamsburg blue/gold and backed by the largest snowflake known to man… (can we Irish slather it on?!!)… Right now, this beautiful XMAS TREE SKIRT is star-shaped, but I am working on the physics of making it round. Beautiful, either way. Because it is costing me 7 days out of my ever-shorter life, the price for this Tree Skirt will be $120, and I can assure you that there will be only a limited number of these.
New is also a selection of pot grabbers; these have grown out of a need for a small, handy pot holder; small enough to leave on top of a pot while it is on the stovetop, handy enough to fit over one hand. The idea came from watching chili cooks at work. I've been making these for the past year, and, with feedback from you'all, have refined the pattern and made them big enough for both women's and men's hands. A few people have told me that they use the pot grabbers to take hot items out of the microwave. I'm glad it's useful, whatever you use it for!
